If you read my earlier post on the Revelation 12 sign you understand that the astronomical alignment which occurs for the first and only time in all of history will take place in September of 2017. For the following to be understood one must hold to the belief that there are no accidents in God’s sovereign order. That He created the heavens for His glory, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork” (Psalm 19:1).
As is often the case in dealing with signs, particularly ones that fall on a specific date, many make the mistake of drawing dogmatic conclusions. A sign by definition is an indicator of something to come yet future and not the event to which it points. As for Revelation 12, the text points to the rapture of the church and Satan’s pursuit of Israel after being cast out of heaven. Again, a sign means this is coming yet future and not on the day of September 23. Many who recognize the significance of this sign have painted themselves into a corner. In some circles if you do not believe the rapture takes place on this day you might as well be apostate. In light of this position many who dismiss the sign outright as nothing important do so on the basis of it carrying the baggage of a literal fulfillment of the rapture.
I hold to the belief that the Revelation 12 sign on September 23, 2017 is indeed the sign described by John but that it is NOT the rapture because that would violate the nature of a sign. We are entering a new period of history, one in which many will wake up to the lateness of the hour and a great shaking will take place globally. This sign is a pronouncement of this occurrence and woe to the scoffers who mock on September 24 when the rapture does not happen. Like the blood moons of 2014-2015 this is a significant sign indeed and to throw the baby out with the bath water is the folly of the blind.
