Thoughts on Flocks and Fire – by Zach Lavine

Dollywood is Dolly Parton’s theme park. It is located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. From DC: “On November 29th, a man named Isaac discovered a burned Bible page from the book of Joel at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN.” Dollywood was spared, but much of the surrounding area was burned. On this page from the Bible is Joel 1:19, “To you, LORD, I call, for fire has devoured the pastures in the wilderness and flames have burned up all the trees of the field.”

1/19 (or Jan. 19) is also Dolly Parton’s birthday, and my Mom’s birthday. In this analysis we will be covering Dolly Parton, my Mom, various punk/alternative rock albums, and how these themes relate to the Book of Genesis and the Book of Enoch.

  • Genesis 6 is about the destruction of life on Earth. The sons of God, or fallen angels, came to Earth and taught mankind lots of arts, such as astrology, metalworking, and weaponry manufacturing. The sons of God also took wives from among “the daughters of men.” They taught the daughters of men how to beautify their faces.
  • Genesis 6:2: “2 The sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.”
  • Genesis 6:4: “4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.”

Because of the violence, fornication and sinfulness on Earth, God wiped out this regime of giants from the land, with the Great Flood. Noah and his family, along with the animals on the ark, were saved. Genesis 6 is rather short, but there is also a more extensive version of these events, to be found in the Book of Enoch. This book is mostly excluded from Christian canons.

The Book of Enoch is more specific in that it mentions that there were 200 fallen angels that came to Mount Hermon. Mount Hermon is in modern day Lebanon. From Wikipedia: “This results in the creation of the Nephilim (Genesis) or Anakim/Anak (Giants) as they are described in the book:

And they became pregnant, and they bare great giants, whose height was three hundred ells: Who consumed all the acquisitions of men. And when men could no longer sustain them, the giants turned against them and devoured mankind. And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and fish, and to devour one another’s flesh, and drink the blood.

It also discusses the teaching of humans by the fallen angels, chiefly Azâzêl:
And Azâzêl taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all colouring tinctures. And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and they were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways. Semjâzâ taught enchantments, and root-cuttings, Armârôs the resolving of enchantments.

Barâqîjâl, taught astrology, Kôkabêl the constellations, Ezêqêêl the knowledge of the clouds, Araqiêl the signs of the earth, Shamsiêl the signs of the sun, and Sariêl the course of the moon.

Michael, Uriel, Raphael, and Gabriel appeal to God to judge the inhabitants of the world and the fallen angels. Uriel is then sent by God to tell Noah of the coming cataclysm and what he needs to do.

Then said the Most High, the Holy and Great One spoke, and sent Uriel to the son of Lamech, and said to him: Go to Noah and tell him in my name “Hide thyself!” and reveal to him the end that is approaching: that the whole earth will be destroyed, and a deluge is about to come upon the whole earth, and will destroy all that is on it. And now instruct him that he may escape and his seed may be preserved for all the generations of the world.

God commands Raphael to imprison Azâzêl: the Lord said to Raphael: “Bind Azâzêl hand and foot, and cast him into the darkness: and make an opening in the desert, which is in Dûdâêl (God’s Kettle/Crucible/Cauldron), and cast him therein. And place upon him rough and jagged rocks, and cover him with darkness, and let him abide there for ever, and cover his face that he may not see light. And on the day of the great judgement he shall be cast into the fire. And heal the earth which the angels have corrupted, and proclaim the healing of the earth, that they may heal the plague, and that all the children of men may not perish through all the secret things that the Watchers have disclosed and have taught their sons. And the whole earth has been corrupted through the works that were taught by Azâzêl: to him ascribe all sin.

Take note of this section:

“And Azâzêl taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all colouring tinctures.”

So the situation that led to fornication and violence on the earth, was teaching the men how to make weapons, and teaching daughters of men to beautify their faces and wear bracelets and ornaments – this created the impression that the daughters of men were just sex objects for the angels and giants. The angels and giants were dedicated to three things: violence, learning and teaching secret knowledge, and fornication. One can, then, understand why God decided to wipe out that situation.

There is a related warning for our future. The burning of Pigeon Forge is one alarming manifestation of that warning. Dolly Parton, born on 1/19, is known for having had a bunch of plastic surgery. My Mom, born on 1/19, has also had plastic surgery. Keep in mind the theme of plastic surgery. It is a current day reflection of that art taught to the daughters of men by the angels/giants, to beautify themselves so as to make themselves appealing as sex objects.
As Daily Crow post notes, “Dolly the Lamb” was the first cloned sheep.

The notion of cloning is similar to plastic surgery – it is a manifestation of man/woman trying to play God – to create a wholly new face, or animal. Genesis 11:9 (looks like 1:19) is about the Tower of Babel: “Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of the whole earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of the whole earth.” The recently-deceased news anchor Gwen Ifill was 61 when she died. “Ifill” sounds like “Eiffel Tower,” which is located in Paris.

Dolly Parton recorded a song titled “Travelin’ Thru” for the film Transamerica. This film is about a transgender person. A transgender person could also be said to have created a new type of face, or human being. However, you could also describe it as that person becoming the person that they truly are on the inside. Therefore it is interesting that if you draw a line from the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco, to the Temple of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the line crosses the Nazca Lines in Peru at a point that divides the line by the Golden Section. My Mom traveled to Cambodia and Vietnam to see the Temple of Angkor Wat this year. Brits would say that my Mom took a “holiday” in Cambodia.

The song “Holiday in Cambodia” was recorded by the punk group the Dead Kennedys, who also had an album titled Plastic Surgery Disasters.
Angelina Jolie was also in Cambodia earlier this year, filming a film titled First they Killed my Father, about the Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia. Part of Jolie’s film Tomb Raider was filmed at Angkor Wat, which is the largest religious temple in the world. Angelina Jolie is known for having a lot of tattoos, another form of making your body an art form.

Therefore, Angelina Jolie and Dolly Parton both sync with my Mom. Angelina Jolie is called by many people, the most beautiful woman in the world. Another woman who once fit that bill was Helen of Troy. Note that “Jolie” means “beautiful.” Helen of Troy was abducted by Paris (Peres, Perez). See how that syncs with the fallen angels noticing that the daughters of men were “fair,” after which “they took” them for wives? When my Mom was younger, she was a fashion model. Jolie has perhaps also had plastic surgery, although not to the degree that Dolly has.

DOLLy PARTon sounds like “Doll Parts,” which was a song by the band Hole, recorded for their album, Live Through This. Hole’s singer/guitarist was Courtney Love. The song “Doll Parts” is about a woman who acts fake so that she will appeal to a man. She is in competition with other women for the man’s attention. It has the line, “I fake it so real I am beyond fake.” Live Through This also features the song, “Miss World.” The album cover features a beauty queen holding flowers. Donald Trump, tower builder, is associated with the Miss Universe pageants. Like Dolly Parton, Courtney Love has had plastic surgery.

Courtney Love was married to Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. Nirvana’s album In Utero was was engineered by Steve Albini, singer/guitarist in the band Shellac. Shellac released the album Terraform in 1998, on 2/10, the 41st day of the year. To “terraform” means to TRANSFORM a planet so that it somewhat resembles Earth, and so that human life can be sustained on it. One can, then, “trans-form”: a person; a sheep; a face; a planet. One can also transform base metals by using an alchemist’s forge (Pigeon Forge). Forges were used by the fallen angels and Nephilim to create bracelets, weaponry, etc. Terraforming is something that Elon Musk is interested in doing on Mars. He wants to fly humans out there so that they can set up new colonies. That would be like playing God to the ultimate degree. The Book of Genesis relates how God created the heavens and the Earth.

With all that in mind, take a listen to Shellac’s album Terraform, and consider how the songs’ themes connect to the Book of Genesis and the Book of Enoch.

“Didn’t We Deserve a Look at You the Way You Really Are”: Albini refers to a woman who “parades” around as a “crazy bitch,” with one lone bracelet displayed on her arm. The woman is self-conscious, so she acts out a role instead of revealing the real her. “I fake it so real I am beyond fake,” “Doll Parts” lyrics. The song can also be taken as a metaphor for the Face on Mars, as the singer could be asking, “NASA, didn’t we deserve a look at Mars the way it really is? We taxpayers are funding the institution, after all.”

Self-consciousness was what afflicted Eve after she ate the fruit in the Garden of Eden. So when the singer says, “Reveal yourself,” he is saying, “Stop playing a role and displaying your trinkets and charms – be the real you.” Stop creating a fake face and be who you really are.

“This is a Picture”: A genius invents a tool to show the world what it means when I’m in a bad mood. Whether you are a fallen angel, TJ Newton, Steve Jobs, or Jack Parsons, the principle is still the same. Angelina Jolie has a tattoo of the saying “Know Your Rights” on her back; this is a song by the band The Clash. Remember that Jolie went to Cam-Bodia earlier this year (a reflection of “body cam”). Jolie parades around her concern with social justice in the East, yet she has been living in mansions in France, California and New Orleans. Does this remind you of the song “Holiday in Cambodia”? Many comfortable liberal minded people today also want to parade around their concern about body cams and police brutality.

“Disgrace”: Boys play with toy rockets; girls play with dolls. Metaphor for Mount Hermon.

“Mouthpiece”: This is a song about a ventriloquist’s dummy. Note that the creation of a wooden dummy reflects the first song’s mention of the woman creating a display persona for herself, displaying a bracelet as if she was a showroom dummy (a commercial or sex object). A “block head” is slang for an ignoramus; a “mouthpiece” is slang for a toady, or person who recites the lines of more powerful people in an organization. This is a song about creating another head/face for public consumption.

“Canada”: Canada is separated from the United States by a border. Borders and walls cleave land masses into countries. Cuban cigars could be purchased in Canada while they were banned in the US. The U.S. once tried to assassinate Castro with an exploding cigar. The word “Castro” means “fortification” or wall. In this song, the singer states that Canadians think they “invented substance.” Only God can invent substances. We can alchemically shape them in forges, but we can only give our own form to what God has created. And our tendency is to not accept the natural shapes those substances take, but to create our own new forms out of them. When you humble yourself to realize that God is the true Creator, you realize that you should work with what God gave you instead of trying to play God. And that is also the lesson from the Garden of Eden.

“Rush Job”: God created the world in six days, and rested on the seventh. God can create a world in that period of time, but when man tries to create his own new inhabitable planet on Mars, it will be something of a rush job.

“House Full of Garbage”: This song is about a giant and his wife. The giant “went in” to sleep with his wife. The giant’s house was too small for him. He hoarded a bunch of garbage in there and told his child to sleep in a tent outside. Earth has become too small for man’s ambitions, so he has decided to try to create a new Earth on Mars. Think about how this song connects with Dolly Parton. This is a song about creating a head that will be a monument to self on Face-book. This is a picture, of my face on Face-book. That is a statue of Joseph Stalin, or Ho Chi Minh. “This is my new face and my big new breasts – don’t you like them?” Modern America is artificial, and that is part of its sickness. People are turning into artifacts for display purposes. Monuments.

“Copper”: The title is a play on words. Copper is an element; a “copper” is also a police officer. Police officers are “forged in the fire” of violence, day in and day out. But they are used as tools by the powerful. The powerful created them like that ventriloquist created the wooden head of that dummy, then spoke through it. The media condemn police for alleged racism, but the media are mostly just mouthpieces for advertisers. The Great Flood came because of violence and fornication. God punished people for engaging in those things. I would bet that, if we want to avoid our own destruction, we should also avoid those things.

The Dead Kennedys album Plastic Surgery Disasters has songs that relate to the Pigeon Forge fire. Dollywood is a metaphor for the crumbling American way of life, which is unsustainable. The American way of life threatens to destroy the planet because it is based on limitless consumption and leisure pursuits. We live for traveling on vacations. Going to sporting events. Couch-surfing.

Dollywood is a place to take a “holiday,” or vacation. Americans are vacationing their lives away while the world burns around them. The trees and pastures are burning around the world.

“Well Paid Scientist”: Knowledge without ethics spells doom for humans. That theme goes back to the Garden of Eden and Mount Hermon.

“Forest Fire”: This song is about fires threatening the homes of Hollywood stars. Remember Joel 1:19: “To you, LORD, I call, for fire has devoured the pastures in the wilderness and flames have burned up all the trees of the field.”

“Halloween”: A song about self-consciousness. God gives us one personality, but we often insist on creating a new one for ourselves.

“Winnebago Warrior”: Honey, let’s drive to Dollywood and forget our troubles for the week. We have a mobile home. Our space shuttle goes with us wherever we go. Let’s go check out Mars and Cambodia just for the hell of it. We’re just travelin’ thru in our Winnebago, until we run out of gas on the highway.
My parents divorced when I was a kid. Therefore, my nuclear family broke up, like Angelina Jolie’s family broke up. When the nuclear family breaks up, it is a disaster. God wants to see those marriages stay together. My family broke apart and faced judgment because we did not pursue God or read the Bible. People shouldn’t cleave apart what God has joined together. This is part of the cultural malaise that is afflicting us.

Lightning Bolt’s album Wonderful Rainbow is 41:40 in duration, and was #41 in Load Records’ catalog. This album is prophetic of the destruction we face if we don’t collectively turn to God. The lyrics to the song “On Fire” are directly applicable to the Pigeon Forge fire being a metaphor for the unsustainable American way of life, based on leisure and consumption:

Throw out the house
Throw out the couch
Throw out the car
Tear down the pool
Put it all in the road

All the world’s in flames
And we just play the game
It’s all the same to you

But I will live to see the day
There’s only me to blame

In the mid-2000’s, I traveled to Gainesville FL to see Lightning Bolt (who is from Providence, RI) play a show at a performance space called The Ark. Footage was taken of that show here: Lightning Bolt at the Ark – Gainesville, Florida

Note that the show took place on Friday the 13th. In the Youtube footage above, there is a sign on the door that states:

“The ruin of a nation begins in the homes of its people.” That is a truth that is reflected in my own family, and in the families of many I know. In the early 2000’s I became a fan of Lightning Bolt, and I particularly liked their DVD, The Power of Salad and Milkshakes. This DVD shows performances from 2001, before the Twin Towers got hit. The band was performing a song titled “Two Towers” before the 9/11 attacks had occurred. The album Wonderful Rainbow is very applicable to the times we find ourselves in.

MP on Daily Crow said: “In the metaphoric, get off the Titanic and get on the Ark. The Titanic had all the trappings, the best that man could build. It sunk because of pride. The Ark was built in faith, in the face of much ridicule but Noah and his family were spared.”

Salvation is available to us in Psalm 119. We need to reach out to it and dwell in the faith that God sees all and will help us even in the midst of judgment, worldly chaos and family divisions. Psalm 119 is about a person turning to God for the first time. The speaker is a stranger on the earth – confused, seemingly doomed, beset by law breakers on all sides. Psalm 119 says, stay steadfast and realize God’s sovereignty.

God can help us out of these terrible situations we find ourselves in. So as Joel 1:19 presents the warning of burning trees and pastures, Psalm 119 reaches out to us to offer a different path. Psalm 119 is 176 verses. It’s interesting to note that the combined World Series droughts of the Cubs and Indians was 176 years. This was 176 years of “curses”. This takes us back to Noah, in Genesis 5:

When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. He named him Noah and said, He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed.
